As a bit of a 'trekkie' it was fun seeing the characters Spock, Kirk, Scotty and Bones reunite. Warp effect = still cool. The late Persis Khambatta's beauty was also amazing. Some negative notions, though. I thought that the special effects were not as impressive as they could have been with the techniques the filmmakers had when the movie was filmed. The plot wasn't complex enough for my tastes either, although its not necessarily a bad thing. What I found a bit funny though was that it took so long for the crew to figure out the meaning behind the name V'ger.

What most bothered me about the film was its sluggishness - the long film didn't really contain so much things that would happen. There wasn't enough action to keep the story going smoothly onwards, in my view. The film is quite long.

After watching the movie first in the movie theatre and then on TV, I decided to view it once more. It was nice to see that Gene Roddenberry's vision of a brave future of Earth where no man suffers from hunger or war and the philosophical thoughts pondering upon deep things were still there. The music was fine, the astronomical science-fiction was well adhered to and the harmless adventurous way of storytelling without cruelties or overt violence was there, refreshing after watching so many violent movies. The film manages to be a better than average science-fiction movie and a cool Star Trek film. Just great stuff.
