Review of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) by Caleb C — 17 May 2009
After watching the newly updated Star Trek, I have become a Trekie so to speak. So as so, I decided to start from the first film. I had mixed feeling as I watched this mainly because I wasn't expecting it to be so serious and humorless unlike the new one.
I did however appreciate this fim for what it was and can see why in some ways could be considered a sci-fi classic. For me personally I don't think this was a classic. The acting by Shatner and Nimoy was outstanding I'd say and is really what saves this movie.
Plus a lot of the over draw out special effects sequences are quite nice to look at but could have been cut down for length time. The film really only lacks sheer adventure itself and focuses more on some what boring dialouge between characters.
In all honesty this is actually a really good film to fall asleep to..I was very close to that.
