Review of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) by Adam W — 16 Jan 2011
Today, it's very easy to put this film down as slow and excessively serious but I remember this first big screen Star Trek caused quite a buzz at the time of its release. The effects and overall quality of the thing were a massive upgrade on the parent show and seeing all of our favourite characters in such a big budget endeavor was a real treat.
True, in selecting a script that earned more points as serious sci-fi the studio lost touch with some of the cavalier spirit of the original but it's still a decent picture and a landmark moment in Star Trek history.
