By far the most underestimated of the trek movies, Star Trek: The Motion Picture represents the slower, more contemplative style of sci-fi, which might alienate fans of the fast-paced action-heavy style akin to the later films.

I have some issues with certain visual aspects, sure, and the tones of gray and beige sometimes make for a flat and dull look, but on the whole it's a fine film worth returning to.
