Review of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) by Michael H — 13 Apr 2013
Two figures are perched over my shoulder, eager to influence my review of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture." One is an angel. The other is a devil. If only we could hear their conversation...ANGEL: "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" is lavishly produced and epic in scope.
It's huge, and attempts moments of 2001-style grandeur. It deals with big ideas and heady science fiction themes. It has a great score and evokes the cold, deadly, lonely exploration of space like few movies can or have.
DEVIL: "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" is 100% straight-up boring.A: Please be more constructive with your feedback.D: Okay.
