Review of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) by Greg L — 05 Mar 2014
A highly maligned but ultimately highly enjoyable science fiction film, "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" was the first time that the venerable sci-fi franchise hit the silver screen, and there are some teething problems, but ultimately this is a gripping film.
Featuring the original cast of William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, Nichelle Nichols, James Doohan, George Takei and Walter Koenig, there's a lot of intrigue in this film, particularly in the big reveal of the identity of the films villian. An early effort, and a very commendable one.
