Review of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) by Michael R — 15 Nov 2010
This film was released in the late 1979, so one should expect some poor special effects compared to today's standard, although I heard they were pretty good for the day. Nevertheless, I was still pretty interested by this one, if nothing else, for it's unique story where the villain is not a tyrant warlord or Klingon but the quest for truth, or "the creator" as it was referred to as.
However, this film isn't perfect by any means. At times I did find it to be a little slow and unengaging because it seems to self-endulge in it's lofty quest. This isn't one to seek out, but neither is it one to ignore.
I personally just rented it myself, and didn't regret it.
