The idea of an evil Picard clone wasn't a terrible one, but it wasn't enough to fill an entire movie, and the subplots they came up with were weak at best. I blame the studio for this one; they were afraid to invest too much money for fear of poor returns, and in doing so created a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Meh.
