Review of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) by Joe L — 07 Jul 2009
Wow hard to believe this is actually a Star Trek film, this time on the way back to Earth the beloved crew is also traveling through time to 20th century San Francisco to save the whales humpback that is.
In the 23rd century an alien probe is coming to destory Earth and it's not stopping until it talks to some whales. Indeed this probably sounds ridiculous, but actually the team of writers pulled together a very fun and well done film.
The contradictions between modern times and our future friends is really funny and it's still pure sci-fi. It's a very clever film and I actually do hope we as a society evolve into something of what Star Trek predicts society will be like in the 23rd century.
A whole lot of fun and everyone from the cast contributes something important and it's overall a very satisfying ending to this mini-trilogy among the Star Trek films entirely.
