Review of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) by Rob Ó — 20 Apr 2013
After its heavy predecessors, this lighthearted caper aims to get people smiling again - and goes from strength to strength from start to finish. It's a genuinely hilarious film that laughs with and at its straight-faced protagonists, while never truly mocking them. Shatner and Nimoy are at their iconic best and the film's plot while preachy, does actually make you consider the ramifications of animal abuse.
It's also arguably the most accessible film in the entire franchise. This is the Star Trek movie you can show to your parents and your girlfriend and they'll actually enjoy it and stay for the whole movie.
