Review of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) by Simon D — 27 Mar 2015
The Even-numbered Start Trek films are always said to be the best. I would have to agree - although this one was probably the worst of the even-numbered first-generation films - yet it was a cool presence.
I feared it would potentially be one of those cheesy time-travel episodes from the original series designed to showcase a young Joan Collins-like up-and-comer as Kirk's love interest. No. This was better! WHALES! and a .
. . subtle love interest. This movie also had the WORST theatrical poster done by an artist who drew Captain Kirk as if he looked like Christopher Noth and Spock looked like a transgender-ed Roy Schieder! Have you seen that god awful poster? Go to Wikipedia - I think they have it there.
Leonard Nimoy says this was the most well-received of the films - hmmmm - maybe the most well-received of the ones he directed.
