Review of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) by Tyler S — 29 Apr 2015
The crew of the Starship Enterprise (or more like the crew of a stolen Klingon ship) must go back in time to bring back two humpback whales so that the whales can talk to a strange life form destroying Earth.
..yea it sounds stupid but this movie is actually surprisingly good, or at least enjoyable. It also takes off right after the events of the last film "The Search for Spock" and completes the "sorta" trilogy that began in Wrath of Khan, I love that it still deals with the problems caused in the last two films, but has a more comical and lighthearted main plot so that those things don't bog it down.
I'm not saying I didn't like the seriousness of the other two films but I like how it is a trilogy that goes the opposite of how most trilogies are, it starts off epic, than gets darker and than gets lighter.
..if that makes any sense. Anyways fun movie, if you like Star Trek you'll love it, it's well directed by Nimoy and it has well done "fish out of water" no pun intended (seriously no pun intended whales are mammals not fish), comedy.
