Review of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) by Lucas Q — 15 Jul 2008
A great departure from the usually serious Star Trek fare this film has an almost screwball nature to it as the crew take to time travel to stop the latest threat to the galaxy as they know it. Much more broader in scope than some of the other films with Earth being threatened, but also less personal to some degree for that.
Leonard Rosenthal's score to this is also a fun little gem, not outstanding, but the right fluff for this tongue and cheek romp. And for once you see Spock drop his stoic face near the end. As unTrekie like as you can get.
