Review of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) by Zoie D — 08 Aug 2008
An excellent conclusion to the "trilogy" after parts II and III. A total change in direction gives us a light-hearted sci fi comedy which on paper looks a total disaster but is carried out quite brilliantly.
All the cast seem to be having a ball with it as they struggle to cope in 20th Century earth. Some quality moments ensue with Spock swearing, Bones in the hospital. The whales plotline is actually quite well done and it seems Nimoy has learned from his mistakes after directing Part III, it's good to see him back as Spock.
Overall, not just a great Star Trek film but a great entertainment film that will appeal to all.
