Review of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) by Andy L — 25 Nov 2009
Star Trek IV is another great edition to this series with the great directing skills of Leonard Nimoy, who this time had a little more freedom with storylines etc.
This film takes a more light hearted approach with the cast and story, and in fact the storyline seems so weird and outlandish but it actually works and pays off. As we get to experience an encounter between the crew and ordinary people back in the 23rd Century, this leads to some very funny moments especially with Spock and McCoy.
It is a refreshing story, which I didn't like the first time watched it, but have now come to appreciate this film the more times that I have seen it. It's a great film and probably one of the last 'great' of the Star Trek series for a little while as it dips over the next couple of movies.
Fantastic Film, 85% is my rating - Great Movie with some really funny and great moments.
