Definitely one of the best Star Trek films made. It captured the culture clash between 23rd century StarFleet officers and 1980s San Francisco perfectly. Leonard Nimoy was great not just as Spock trying to regain his former self but also as the director of the film.
Walter Koenig was good as Chekov and it was strange seeing Catherine Hicks as Gillian before she became Mrs. Camden on Seventh Heaven. While most Star Trek films have the same plot lines and bad acting, this one definitely was an exception.
