Review of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) by Daniel G — 23 Jan 2010
Clearly there was an overlaying message attached to it, instead of just a sci-fi movie, as has been the case when Nimoy is more involved with production. I get that the alien probe was trying to communicate with the whales, but I don't get why it found it necessary to evaporate the oceans.
The whaling ship at the end was pretty causal and cliche to be in the Bering Sea, I felt. And oh yeah, I didn't realize time-travel was so ho-hum. But between the "yes, no, yes" scene in the truck about liking Italian food, and Spock's usage of 'colorful language', this one had more laughs than the previous 3 combined.
