Review of Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) by Miranda G — 19 Nov 2014
For one, I absolutely hate J.J. Abrams directing and objectification of women. Lets face it, he distracts with boobs (you know, the hot blonde who's only purpose is to lay Kirk that you never can remember the name of) and makes Uhura's only concern when on a life or death mission whether Spock cares about her feeeeelings.
Kirk is an womanizing, disrespectful rebel who is captaining the enterprise by mere luck, and Spock suddenly is more human than vulcan. An alternate timeline should not change the characters so much that they are completely unrecognizable from their ToS selves, and the only reason Nimoy appears is so that J.
J. can attempt to spin this as cannon. The only thing in this movie that didn't ruffle my feathers was the choice of Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan. (Technically speaking, it is inaccurate to cast him as Khan considering that an alternate timeline doesn't change a man's heritage, but Benedryl Cucumber's acting is on point.
).
