Review of Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) by David R — 25 Feb 2015
"Captain's log- star date, May 10th 2013. Time for another review, Star trek: into darkness." (Some people will not get that but I did it anyway) This is the film following J.J Abram's 2009 Star Trek reboot that was highly praised (and I loved).
In my opinion the film was....... great; it had a fast pace and sense of sci-fi fantasy that made it a very exciting adventure that anyone could enjoy. The cast are very good and help this movie with some stellar performances especially my man Sherlock, Benedict Cumberbatch who does so well in his role as the villain and Zachary Quinto as Spock (Spock is a total badass).
The music is uplifting and fantastical; the special effects are gorgeous and amazing; the cinematography is beautiful, showing a wide range of vibrant colours and the story is not half bad and has some twists and turns that take full potential of the alternate star trek universe.
However some of these twists and turns are a tad predictable while watching and some of the stories elements are fixed too easily because it does not focus on them for long enough (so it could have benefited from being longer), but this does not detract to what this movie is.
J.J Abram's has done an amazing job on Star Trek (which he will hopefully do again when he helms Star Wars 7 in 2015) and this shows the rapport he shares with the cast, crew and studio; I enjoyed the hell out of it and I would highly recommend it to anyone, but mainly the sci-fi fans (even though you don't have to be) and as is custom "Live long and prosper.
