Review of Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) by James Z — 28 Mar 2018
Its very hard to rate a film which stands on its own as a good blockbuster action movie yet desecrates the memory of a series cherished by all. Into Darkness is what the new Battlestar Galactic is to the original show, yet sadly lacks the emotional, rollercoaster character driven stories that made the new BSG a hit.
This movie is great in its delivery of fast paced lens flares and explosions, but never seems to discovery that one important element..a good story. Anyone can stand on the shoulders of others, true creativity is to make something new from the clay. J.J Abrams sadly in this installment has resorted to rehashing old material and worst still from one of shows most popular movies.
In my opinion "Into Darkness" is a good generic SciFi movie with little substance. As part of the franchise it stands as a poor contribution.
