Review of Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) by Stephen R — 02 Nov 2014
Never in the history of business has a franchise been so wantonly destroyed.
Just saw it on stream. Glad we didn't pay a dime to see it.
This movie is bad on two levels. J.J. Abrams destroyed the Star Trek cannon when he blew up Vulcan in his first movie. Fine, you don't like the cannon, then why go back to Cannon characters and events and mangle them up some more? Why have Scotty around if you are use him as an afterthought? "OMG. We are on the third reel and we haven't mentioned Scotty once.".
The other way the movie is bad is as non-Star Trek science fiction. There was nothing in this movie to admire. Tired sci-fi clichés.
I enjoyed Star Trek since the mid '70s. Thanks to Abrams, I'm over it. There is nothing left to enjoy.
