Review of Star Trek: Insurrection (1998) by Vance W — 29 May 2008
Okay, so everybody says this feels more like an episode of the series than a movie. Why is that bad? Isn't the point of the movies the fact that people loved the series so much they wanted more? Given this, I think this was an excellent film.
If it conjured memories of the syndication years, that's a good thing. Frakes continues to direct well, the guests are great (again), and the storyline is a good one. My only complaint is that the composers went back to relying heavily on the series soundtrack, which is a somewhat lazy thing to do (especially after the excellent score on "First Contact").
