Review of Star Trek: Insurrection (1998) by Mark R — 11 Apr 2010
Early on, there's an interesting conversation between Captain Picard and a Starfleet admiral about whether it was ever appropriate to forcibly move a population of people for the benefits of another population.
If the film had actually explored that notion, it would have been fascinating. Instead, it ran into Star Trek's Prime Directive--The captain of the Enterprise is always right. Very quickly, the film falls into a routine run-and-hide movie.
As the chief alien villain, F. Murray Abraham happily devours scenery. While I liked the film, it's definitely not a top tier entry in the series.
