Review of Star Trek: Insurrection (1998) by Pierre-Charley R — 17 Oct 2012
I thought this Trek film Star Trek 9 was rather slow paced for me. I had seen it in the movies when it came out, and I remember having thought that same thing then. There was space action, of course, but not that much, and it indeed looks a bit like a lengthy tv-episode. The visuals are better than average and the acting is well done, but the plot isn't much to say about and the story, despite a great attempt to appeal to a more mature audience, didn't perhaps quite work out as planned in my view.
I think that the best Trek movies have been parts I, IV, VI and IIX. One might also want to see parts 2 and 3, but only seeing them together as one long film. This Trek film was one of the weakest efforts, despite the likeable cast and better than average acting.
