Review of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) by Simon L — 09 Apr 2008
Christopher Lloyd as the villain? Seriously? Actually, he's much better than you'd think he'd be in this capacity, and there's no way ANY actor could have adequately followed up Ricardo Montalbán as the next Star Trek bad guy.
Speaking of following up, the fact that Search for Spock is a direct continuation of Wrath fo Khan really works to its disadvantage. This story is, but nature, much more low key than Khan, and it can't help feeling like a let down after so intense an action piece.
Also, the absense of Bibi Besch and Kirstie Alley (the latter in particular) hurts the film terribly. And while Nimoy is a serviceable director, he's no Nick Meyers.
