Review of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) by Krys K — 28 Jun 2008
Not one of the better movies, but somehow necessary. It cleans up after the Wrath of Khan and gets Spock back from death. But then it goes and blows up the Enterprise! That probably hurt those who grew up on the 60s more than Spock's death.
After all, the "remember" bit meant there were "always possibilities", but even Scotty couldn't fix this one! Must admit, I loved Commander Kruge. A totally psychotic Klingon, but still within the frame of the Klingons we have seem before.
Bit of a shame to kill off Kirk's son. Personally, I'd rather have seen Saavik killed off - especially as Kirstie Alley did a better job. Just a pity they never really resolved the Pon Farr thing.
Did Saavik and Spock really get it on?! Who knows. The last 20 minutes of this movie would put you to sleep, especially after the action of at Genesis. It just goes on too long, but again, it seems necessary.
