Review of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) by Adam S — 11 Mar 2014
A largely Spock free installment of the Star Trek franchise, "The Search for Spock" misses the high drama of "The Wrath of Khan", but with Leonard Nimoy taking up the directors chair in his characters' absence, finally a presence strong enough to take down William Shatner's ego allowed for more focus on other characters, such as Bones, Sulu, Chekov and Scotty.
With Shatner, George Takei, DeForest Kelley, Walter Koenig, James Doohan and Nichelle Nicholls returning to their roles, and supporting roles played by Robin Curtis and Christopher Lloyd, the skeleton crew set up allows for a more intimate portrayal, much like the TV series.
There's a lot to like in this threequel to this venerable film series.
