My pic for top five all time favorite science fiction movies, topped only by star wars a new hope and the empire strikes back. you cant get any better than this, its a shame they didnt keep the score as star trek's 2-4 and first contact are the only ones I recommend if you havent seen the star trek series along with star trek classic, tng and ds9 for tv shows not to miss.

terrific score, great tie in to the original series, top notch acting. better than the first star trek by far, one of the few sequels better than the original. First contact has the only alternative score I liked, I would prefer they would have had this score or goldsmith's original to the god awfull abominal music of st 2009.
