Review of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) by Amos S — 07 Aug 2011
The second Star Trek is by many considered the most faithful to the style and tone of the original tv-series. Different from the first, focusing on adventure and conflict rather than exploration and amazement, but not necessarily better or worse.
The designs have been shaped up a great deal, starting towards the more "realistic" look of later films in the franchise, but the sense of marvel and vastness is toned down. Also, there are some scripting problems, some less inspired character inter-relations and sometimes a feeling of incompletion.
When it's good, however, it's great.
