Wow...I don't claim to be a Star Trek fan by any means. I've only seen a 2 or three of the movies before this one. Just as a movie alone, Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan is a work of art. It is by far the best of the Star Trek movies I've seen (Second being the 2009 franchise reboot).
