Review of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) by Harry W — 02 Oct 2012
While Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan didn't change my thoughs about Star Trek, it was better than the previous movie. I found it boring since the action didn't come until about 45 minutes in and not much happened until then. Also, William Shatner is as bad an actor as ever, and his delivery of the line "KHAN!!" was odd, although probable his best moment in the film. The general character development was the same as the last one, except Ricardo Montalban who was very good and the best actor in the whole film.
It still is a large improvement over the original Star Trek Motion Picture. Theres a lot more action and tension, and not excessively long pointless moments. The setting is also better because it's no longer on just a single ship, but rather a series of planets, and I liked how they looked as well as the visual effects. It's plot was good and when the action started it was good from there.
So overall Star Trek II would have been great for fans of the show, but as I am not a trekkie I thought that this film was lacking of a few things, but good overall. It hasn't soured me away from the series, and if anything makes me want to see the next one to find what happens to spock.
