Review of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) by Arthur E — 22 Jul 2013
Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan is the Michael Jordan of the Star Trek film franchise. It's easily the best of the bunch with no near competitor but unfortunately this character driven interpretation would inform following director-writers and move subsequent films away from the realm of Roddenberry's original intent and relegate the franchise to buddy movies set in space.
Enjoy this movie for its memorable lines, great music score, and ham it up acting by Shatner and Ricardo Montalban. Even non-sci fi lovers can enjoy this space adventure.
I just rewatched it and was amazed how well it stood up despite its quaint take on the future. It actually adds to its charm. Look for a scene with an "Exit" sign. Yes, they'll have exit signs in the 23rd century that look just like the ones today.
