Review of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) by Patrick S — 06 Sep 2013
Once you've moved onto Wrath of Khan, you can forget about the first film really, cause it does everything the first film didn't do or does everything just so much better. I have to say this is one of the most visually appealing films from the 80's, and my god is the camera work fucking glorious! The story is actually damn great, the action is thrilling and exciting, the visuals like I've said are incredible for the time, and Khan is a terrific villain.
A part of me was hoping to see Khan vs. Kirk face to face in combat, but when I really thought about it, that's a cliche thing for a vendetta and out of character with the film! You're always gonna see certain films and wonder if they should've done this or that, but in the end you just look at the film for what it was.
For me, this was one of the best sci-fi films by far, yes a lot of people say so, but it's just that damn good! Whether I thought they could've done this or that, what it did do was satisfying.
My nitpicks are only so minor like they are with even the best films like this, so I can say it was a near-perfect sci-fi film.
