Easily the best ST movie of any period, period. The only one I go out of my way to watch when it's on TV (like right now on film4!). Love the pace, the tension, the tactics and Montalban is superb.

All very convincing, as ST can be. You don't have to be a Trekkie to like this, which is probably the best measure of it's quality. J.J. Abrams needs to watch this version carefully...
