Review of Star Trek: Generations (1994) by Cam R — 19 Jul 2008
Star Trek: The One Where Kirk and Picard Finally Meet. The first film to feature the Next Generation crew is sadly the worst of the series, with a maudlin storyline, a confusing and uninteresting deus ex machina in the form of the Nexus and that wretched emotion chip for Data.
Beloved Star Trek entities like Captain Kirk and the Enterprise D are dispensed with in deeply lazy and unsatisfying ways, making this the only Star Trek film that is truly a betrayal of fan trust. Good performances from Patrick Stewart and Malcolm McDowell are among the few redeeming aspects of this misguided project.
