Review of Star Trek: Generations (1994) by Stu A — 10 May 2009
I loved this movie!.....when I was 9. A friend recently told me all the separate restrictions put on the writers for things they had to include (Kirk at the beginning and end, no time travel, Klingons, destruction of Enterprise-D). The result is a sloppy endeavor that feels a little too much like a bad TV episode.
This isn't a good introduction for the Next Generation cast. We're just sort of thrown in with them after the prologue with Kirk. Patrick Stewart and Shatner are good with what they have to work with, but the emotion chip scenes with Data are silly (although I loved them when I was 9.) There are way too many logical gaps and plot holes.
