Old school Trekkies are a fickle bunch. Most I've encountered hate this movie. In fact, most I've encountered hate pretty much all TNG movies.

This movie was a passing of the torch from the old crew to the TNG crew. It's also TNG's launch into feature films. I thought it succeeded in both of that, while also keeping in line with Trek's exploration into things like religion, politics and all kinds of other stuff that leads to heated conversations.
