Review of Star Trek: Generations (1994) by Gordon C — 06 Dec 2009
Here we have Captain Picard faced with an interesting moral choice. He's in the Nexus, right? And time has no meaning there. Whoopi Goldberg tells him that he can leave the Nexus at any point in time. So, he allies with Kirk and goes back to just before Soran blows up his second star.
Now, since he could leave the Nexus at any point in time, why doesn't he go back far enough to stop Soran before he blows up the first star? He could go back to the moment Soran arrives on the Enterprise, and have him arrested immediately, foiling all his nefarious plans, and the Klingons as well. Why doesn't he?
Why doesn't Kirk leave the Nexus by going back to just before the incident on the Enterprise-B, enabling him to save the two endangered vessels and their full complement of crew?
Why weren't all those lives worth saving?
