Review of Star Trek: Generations (1994) by Tony H — 28 Apr 2010
I was insanely excited about this when it came out. I was thirteen and at the height of my geekdom. TNG had just ended, and DS9 and Voyager were just new shows. It was a great time to be a Trekkie, and this movie was very much the cherry on top.
This had a lot of good stuff: the TNG cast, a link to TOS with Kirk, Scotty and Chekov, an great story, and plenty of action, tension and jokes. I do admit though, that the story was a little slow moving at times, a little more cerebral than what is needed for an exciting movie that appeals to fans and non-fans alike. Us Trekkies loved it...it was more of what we loved about our beloved show, and exciting to see our 'family' up on screen. For casual watchers of Star Trek, however, it was a little boring.
