Review of Star Trek: Generations (1994) by Phil H — 19 Oct 2014
The feel of the film is very much a longer and bigger budget episode of The next Generation. And for the first half of the film, it is. But as soon as the action starts, the film becomes so much more. Its combination of the investigative adventure of The next Generation to the goodie/baddie battle of The Original Series.
Pacing is a real issue here. As well as the random and often annoying lighting. However the director obviously wants the most out of this movie, hence every scene being a few minutes longer than it really should be. A true Star Trek fan always wasn't the scene, episode or film to be a few minutes longer, and that's what we got with Star Trek Generations.
The score at the end of the film signifies that Star Trek was never going to end with Kirk or Picard. Jerry Goldsmith takes the film into outer space and ready what what comes next.
