The Undiscovered Country was a much better and more proper sendoff for the original Trek crew, feeling more like a movie than Generations, which feels more like an extended episode of The Next Generation.

Still, it's a pretty good movie and it keeps your attention. The visuals are really strong (who knew the Enterprise could break in half?) and the score is quite good. The best thing about the film is simply seeing Kirk and Picard together.

As Kirk exits early from the film you actually feel like it's a Picard movie so it's sort of joyous when Kirk shows up again in the third act. The Nexus is a great plot idea and plays out well with Malcom McDowell as ultimately a minor villain but one who is memorable thanks to his performance.

There are a couple of possible plot holes that I haven't been able to figure out: How did the Enterprise B crew beam the 47 surivors of the Lakul if they were in the Nexus? and Are there actually two Picards when Kirk and Picard return to stop Soren and if so what happens to the second one? Nevertheless, they don't really take away from the overall enjoyment of the film.

Generations is a minor Trek film but a decent one.
