Review of Star Trek: Generations (1994) by Matthew K — 11 Mar 2008
Now I don't think the supernatural has to be left out of sci-fi (like, the force from Star Wars, even if they did give it a lame ass "scientific" reasoning in the prequels, or the Cylons constant talk about God in Battlestar Galactica) but... what the hell?
So, Picard died, and then met Whoopi Goldberg and Kirk in some sort of heaven? I guess I didn't follow that well, but it seemed rather stupid.
Plus, the entire time I kept saying to myself "that's the guy from A Clockwork Orange and he's going to rape someone and sing 'singing in the rain' and I really don't want to see that again" which killed it for me.
But as I just wrote a few times, the actors were having fun with each other and everyone seemed to be having a good time. But the story was just so... I don't know, it felt out of place and dumb.
