Review of Star Trek: Generations (1994) by Rowan C — 20 Aug 2010
A great film that is under-rated. People say it's like an extended TV episode but even if it was action-packed then people would say it only captures the noisy spirit of the show. There is no "Star Trek Movie Curse", not every sequel can be as good as the one before, it's just a coincidence that every odd-numbered sequel isn't that good.
This film is very emotional and features beautiful performances by all the cast.
If you want a Star Trek film then it has to be Star Trek-like. Star Trek is like soft waves compared to the thunder-storm Star Wars films and brilliant Star Trek reboot, sequel and prequel.
Star Trek Generations has a good-script and an emotional last half-hour in the Nexus. One of the greatest scenes is where Picard is talking about his young nephew and how he will never experience life. That is truely emotional and shows an unknown side to Picard.
Kirk is really good as he's more relaxed and accepts everything. It was good that he died doing something that he believed it - saving the universe and helping the Enterprise.
80%. Under-rated by most people, even by people who dare to call themselves "Trekkies".
