Review of Star Trek: First Contact (1996) by Andrew James M — 13 Jan 2015
The TNG cast made four films and first contact was by far and away the best for me it is only second to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in the best Trek films of all-time list. (The new Trek films are ok but not as good as First Contact or Wrath of Kahn).
Now two of my biggest complaints about the other three TNG films is that action was used to cover the plot on too many occasions and anyone who is a big fan of TNG will tell you that is a no-no you see Star Trek:TNG strength is that it can tell a story effectively without relying on action or too much of it, another complaint would be the massive difference in how the characters in the TV show would be hugely different in the films like for instance Picard becomes nothing more than an all action captain which just isn't Picard at all.
First Contact is the only TNG film that got it just right they blended the action with the plot brilliantly. The Borg were great villains but who is shocked the borg simply rule and The cast do a great job and we finally see a worthy TNG film that we fanboys of the series can be proud of.
