Review of Star Trek: First Contact (1996) by Tristan G — 29 Jul 2009
Hell yeah, this is one to watch. One of the best of the Trek movies (If I had to rank them I'd place this just behind Kahn and the new one), and it actually stands well on it's own (to an extent).
It still relies on a bit of fan knowledge, but the plot is strong enough that almost anyone can enjoy it. It's also the most action packed and thrilling of the Next Generation movies, with great performances from Patrick Stewart(Picard) and Brent Spiner (Data).
I'm a little in between on the villain though. She's kinda cool, but not really a huge factor in the outcome of the movie. There used to be a rule that the even numbered Trek movies are better than the odd ones (since disregarded with the new JJ Abrams film), and this one is definitely one of the standouts.
