Review of Star Trek: First Contact (1996) by Aaron C — 23 Jul 2012
I really appreciated this movie. It was made for the fans and only the fans. That's respectable, and even though I wasn't completely familiar with the material (I missed the episodes where Picard was assimilated) this is an enjoyable adventure.
The concept of the borg has always intreagued me and they make for stellar opponents. I was reminded of Aliens as soon as the borg had infiltrated the enterprise. There are some hokey moments here and there.
For example, a scene where Picard uses a holographic bullet to kill some drones. Those are minor squabbles though. We're already agreeing that time travel is possible so I guess I can stretch it a bit further.
I've come to expect nothing less than great performances from Stewart, Frakes and Spiner and they do not dissapoint. A highlight of the Star Trek franchise. It still holds up today.
