Review of Star Trek Beyond (2016) by Conner W — 11 Sep 2016
I was disappointed by this movie. As someone who enjoyed Star Trek's "Kelvin timeline" reboot movies, I'm sad to say that this movie was an incredibly cheesy, ham-fisted attempt at gunning for the Trekkie's love for the original series.
After I watched it, I mentioned to my dad that it felt like a Fast and Furious movie (which I find cheesy and over the top) and we later found out that the director of the Fast & Furious franchise directed Star Trek Beyond! It felt like they went for more of a semi-boring nostalgia trip that felt more like an extended episode of the original series than a well thought out movie.
Drawn out action sequences, lame dialogue, and a half-hearted story. Also, an atrocious waste of Idris Elba's acting talents.
