It's been three years since Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto matched wits and brawn against Benedict Cumberbatch in Star Trek Into Darkness. Three long years. Star Trek Beyond is very earnest and sincere.
But it just feels like it's trying to hard. It feels like this is what happens when the action is set to Warp Factor 10. What's missing is the strength of the original Star Trek films. This is all out action - which is great.
It feels like empty action. Cotton candy with no after-taste...Maybe if I watched it one more time...
