The reboot series has yet to make a bad Star Trek film, as this continues the tradition of combining what worked in the past with what audiences expect today. In many ways this plays like an episode of the classic series, only with a much bigger budget and a little over two hours to tell the story.

The highlight would be that we really get humor and human moments between our crew; particularly between Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. As far as the character dynamics between the three, this film has been the strongest yet.

If we're lucky we'll get to see this cast act into their middle ages together, as the first cast did. The only exception being Anton Yelchin, who tragically died shortly before the film was released.

Fittingly the film ends with a dedication to Yelchin and the legendary Leonard Nimoy. In a summer full of failed blockbusters, this one more than delivered.
