Given how a lot of sequels that are based on other franchises seem to either be stalled in a reboot phase or are trying to reinvent the series, this movie was a welcome change. The film plays out like an episode of the show that doesn't tear down or distort the series and could work on its own.
No excessive exposition, just straight into the story. I enjoyed this a lot more than Into Darkness.
